The best ice lolly moulds to buy
Woodland bunnies ice lolly maker
Best budget ice lolly mould
Top features: straw for drips, value for money
This fun design has easy-to-hold rabbit ear lolly sticks that are perfect for young children. The base of the mould is cupped to catch any melting drips, keeping clothes clean. It has an integrated straw to suck up the juice so no drop is wasted. Each bunny is a different colour, and a quick dip in hot water was all that was needed for successful unmoulding. A reasonably priced kid-friendly mould.

Zoku ice pops fish moulds
Best ice lolly moulds for easy release
Top features: Easy to turn out, 3D design
Each of the six ice pops has a different fish design, with individual handles to match. As you pull out the frozen popsicle, the silicone mould turns inside out, easily releasing the lolly. The detail on each lolly is impressive. The mould is compact with short lolly sticks, so it'll fit in a medium freezer drawer. Solid and sturdy, this mould is unlikely to spill. These small, cute lollies are a perfect treat for young children.
What to look for in an ice lolly mould
Compact design: There is nothing more frustrating than making lollies only to find they won’t fit in the freezer drawer. We looked for compact, innovative designs that would stand easily in the freezer and stow away neatly in a cupboard after use.
Sturdiness: We looked for a solid frame and avoided unstable, awkwardly shaped moulds that were liable to spill in the freezer.
Ease of eating: We looked for robust, easy-to-grip handles and lolly shapes that were practical to eat.
Volume: Following government fruit juice guidelines for children, we looked for moulds with a maximum volume of 150ml.
Unmoulding: The moulds should release the lollies with ease. We avoided those requiring excessive hot water dunking, which can result in a half-melted lolly and a precariously loose handle. We rejected those whose sticks pulled free as we tried to unmould them, leaving the lolly behind.
Safety: BPA-free plastics were an essential requirement.
Creativity: We looked for creative designs that produced fun unusual lollies kids will love.
Cleaning: Some moulds are really tricky to clean. We looked for those with minimal crevices and preferred those that were dishwasher-safe.
How we tested ice lolly moulds

We filled the lolly moulds with both fresh juices and yogurt-based recipes to check how easy each type was to unmould. We kept a close eye on how straightforward it was to put the moulds in the freezer without spilling them. Once unmoulded, we gave the sticks a firm wiggle to see how solid they were, how comfortable they were to hold, and finally how easy and enjoyable the lollies were to eat.
